Gayogohó:nǫˀ Learning Project – Strategy & Development Co-Lead
- 15-19 hours/week $25/hour, sick time, and vacation time.
- Two-year position with extension desired (dependent on securing additional
funding).
The Gayogohó:nǫˀ Learning Project was founded in 2021. Its mission is to support Gayogohó:nǫˀ language and culture revitalization efforts that are rooted in ancestral Gayogohó:nǫˀ lands. We aim to serve as an apolitical meeting point for Gayogohó:nǫˀ people and current residents of ancestral Gayogohó:nǫˀ lands seeking to learn more about Gayogohó:nǫˀ language and culture. Public programs to date have included Gayogohó:nǫˀ language and culture classes and discussion groups.
Strategy & Development Co-Lead will work in close partnership with GLP Project Manager, GLP Board, and CTA staff, and project leadership to support the
continued development of the Gayogohó:nǫˀ Learning Project.
- Strategic development and Organizational support
- Co-develop a 2-year strategic framework for the project
- Support the planning and facilitation of a board retreat
- Support clarity around roles and structure across:
i. Board
ii. Leadership
iii. Staff and collaborators
- Lead and support grant proposal development, including:
- Community Foundation grants
- Park Foundation proposals
- NYS and Indigenous-focused funding opportunities
- Manage grant reporting requirements, including narrative reports
- Develop and maintain lightweight grant tracking systems
- Systems & Infrastructure Development, Establish and improve core systems,
including: - Document organization
- Grant tracking
- Communication workflows
- Utilize CTA/Cornell systems (e.g., shared drives, email access)
- Support the development of a sustainable operational foundation
Required Qualifications & Relevant Experience
● Interest in Gayogohó:nǫˀ (Cayuga) language and culture
● Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated success in
engaging external and internal stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes
● Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills, including reliability
and attention to detail
● Experience in strategy development and/or organizational design
● Demonstrated experience in grant writing and/or grant management
● Familiarity with community-based, cultural, and/or Indigenous initiatives
● Ability to work across institutional and community contexts
● Experience with fundraising strategy or donor engagement
● Strong collaboration and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
● Preference given to applicants with Indigenous cultural fluency based on
lived or work experience
● Experience working with or alongside Indigenous communities or organizations
● Experience supporting early-stage or evolving organizations
● Familiarity with the New York State indigenous and/or federal funding landscape
● Experience facilitating board or strategic planning processes
